Volume VII Issue II | Fall - 2004 |
The Editor's Corner |
"Thanks For the Memories" was the theme the reunion committee chose for Alumni Reunion Weekend 2004, in order to highlight the previous 5 successful reunions. The 6th Annual Reunion Weekend was per haps the best so far and created many more memories. Who can forget the March of Classes and the majestic drum majorette who led the class of `54 down the field to celebrate their 50th Reunion? Or the presence of three members of the Class of 1928 who attended the Annual All Class Reunion Luncheon? How about the fantastic band "Blue Hand Luke" whose members were lucky enough to have two of our own jam with them late on Saturday? Dave Hollister '65 and Greg Davie'76 made great memories that night. In this issue you can read about and see pictures of who was there and what they did. We have also included future reunion plans of the 2005 anniversary classes along with class representative information. There are articles by Fred Videtto, and Charles "Doc" Brooks who keep us aware of our history, as well as a very serious query as to how you feel about whether or not you receive the newsletter and whether or not it is worth the price of membership. The association is also trying to identify any alumni and/or their families who are serving in the military. We would like to have pictures and information sent to us so that we can have a permanent display in Alumni Center. You can see two pictures of alumni that we have received so far. The 1000 Book Challenge continues. We hope that during the upcoming holiday season, you will take minute to visit our website and send a book along to the Association address for the library. I am very happy to have an article by Nicole Parren, Class of 1990, who has been teaching in China and has shared her experiences with us. Robert Smith, Jr, class of `51 shared his considerable writing talent with us in his article about one of his heroes, Col. Bob Morgan. We are very much in need of volunteers for the Association particularly for the newsletter. We need people to write and provide ideas for what should be published. There is a need for proof readers as well. In this age of computers, we can use ', anyone who is interested- no matter where you live. If you have an interest - contact me at karencycon@yahoo.com or 55 Livingston Drive, Hamilton, NJ 08619. Don't forget our mini Alumni Weekend during Thanksgiving weekend in November. The Sports Hall of Fame Induction Dinner and the Alumni Basketball Game make this a weekend full of fun and worth a trip to your hometown. I hope you enjoy this issue. Keep sending your family news and pictures and any and all ideas for articles. If you want to see more pictures of Alumni Weekend 2004 - the 2005 calendar created by Diane Holbert is available to order. It is a wonderful keepsake of the reunion and contains many great pictures of everyone who attended. It can be ordered by contacting the Association or by getting in touch with Diane at dholbert@stny.rr.com or 607-563- 2724. This is a great holiday gift and it benefits the association as well. The black and white calendar is $12.00 plus a $3.00 mailing fee. We continue to keep the members of our alumni family who are serving in the military in our thoughts and prayers. |
