WIFE: Samathat DuMond CHILDREN: Blake, Genevieve, Camden, and Everleigh
Josh DuMond has created quite the template in athletic diversity, not only during his days at Sidney but also in college, in the Army, and beyond.
He was the ideal role player in basketball. Josh was a tenacious defender and solid rebounder. In fact, he had more
rebounds than points! Talk about the ultimate team player. His volleyball team was Section 4 champs his senior year
Football for Josh was a continuation of three generations of outstanding DuMond players, following his dad and granddad
- both named Andy - on the gridiron. A two-year Section 4 All-Star, he had one of the best seasons AND arguably the best game in Warrior football history in 2001. As a running back, Josh ran for 1017 yards, which was 5th all-time. Moreover, he
had games of 273 (4th all-time) 191 and 186 yards as well as well as 20 rushing touchdowns still 3rd in school history.
As for the best game, it was performed in just over half a game versus eventual 2001 NYS champion Delhi .Midway through the 3rd quarter, Josh had scored four times in four ways: a 65-yard pass play, a 60 yard interception return, an 80-yard kickoff return and 8 yard run. Sidney led 24-20. Sadly he injured a knee on the ensuing kickoff, essentially ending Sidney's upset hopes.
Track was a chance for Josh to show his speed. Upon graduation, he held school records in the 400 hurdles, 400 relay, pentathlon and both the 3x and 4x shuttle hurdles relays. His 14.2 timing in the 110 hurdles was a Section 4 record, He won that event twice in the NYS Championships.
Athletic success came at the collegiate level. Josh played football at Hartwick and was a NJCAA All-American at SUNY-Delhi by virtue of first places in the 110 hurdles and 4 x 400 relay, He also played semipro football for the legendary BC Jets.
His professional timeline is interesting. Josh spent seven years as a model/actor while earning an A.A. in film & television and a B.A. in broadcast & production Then came 8 years in the Army which included one deployment to Afghanistan. For the past ten years, Josh has owned and operated two companies - one in entertainment, one in production. He also assists with his wife Samantha's criminal defense firm.
Josh and Samantha balance their business interests with an active family life. Living in Phoenix, Arizona allows for year-round sports and hobbies and they are ideal team parents.
Congratulations to Josh DuMond for an amazing life of athletics as we honor accomplishments worthy of induction to the Sidney Alumni Sports Hall of Fame!
