SPORTS HALL of FAME 2014 LEGACY AWARD
The 1983-84 Field Hockey Team

The 8th Legacy Team selected was the 1983-84 Field Hockey squad, led by Hall of Fame coach Mary (then Vredenburgh) Morrison. After going unbeaten in Susquenango League play, the Lady Warriors backed up their 1982 NYS Western Division Regional title a year earlier by storming all the way to the fi rst-ever State Championship game. And as usual Sidney played the larger schools (then Class A) in spite of being a Class C-size school. While they met their match in a gritty 4-2 loss to Long Island and national power Centereach HS, Sidney earned the respect of all that season by being the small school team taking on the giants.
