Robb was known for his versatility in sports in high school, lettering in four sports. Since then, running and coaching have dominated his athletic life ... He started varsity track in Sidney as a freshman in the 1992-93 season, where he was a part of a Susquenango Association and Class C Sectional team championship team. His contributions that year were as a 4th place finisher in the 1600 and 6th place finisher in the steeplechase in the Section IV Meet
Robb's sophomore year was the first of three he would help the Sidney soccer team of coach Steve Hornung reach the Class C sectional finals ... in Track and Field the Warriors repeated as Sus and Class C Team Champs.
This time, Robb qualified for the New York State meet as the runner-up in the 1600 and steeplechase shortly after he won both events in the Sus and Class C meets
Junior year established Robb as a full-time varsity athlete in all sports. Perhaps Sidney soccer's finest year ever was in 1994, as the Warriors won 17 games in a row, including the Section IV Class C title game. They also shared NYS Regional honors with Syracuse CBA after playing a momentous State Quarterfinal game - a marathon that ended in a 1-1 tie. It was only after exhausting all overtime periods and a multiple series of penalty kicks that the Warriors succumbed to the powerful Brothers team filled with year-round soccer players.
Robb earned 1st team All-Star status with The Daily Star following that 19-2-1 season .... winter brought with it the first of two dual-sport seasons in which he was able to participate
In basketball Robb was part of the Sectional finalist team under Coach Mike Brazee...adding Indoor Track and Field was a good move as Robb claimed the overall Section IV Championship in both the 1000 and 1600 meter races and qualified for the NYS Meet ... outdoors he was part of a third straight Sus and Class C Championship team...won three league and Class C crowns each in 800, 1600, and steeplechase ... won Section IV Steeplechase event and finished in 6th place in all of NYS
Senior year was equally memorable, especially in track ... repeated as Daily Star First Team soccer all-star - and Sidney was a Sectional finalist for the third straight season ...Robb was voted MVP in basketball where he played point guard ... qualified for the NYS Indoor Track & Field Meet in middle distance events ... shining moments saved for spring, as he won three more league and Class C events, replacing the 800 with the 3200 meter run ... Established a new Section IV mark in the steeplechase that stood for 10 years while also winning the NYS race against all classes ... ran the steeple in the High School Nationals, placing 4th and earning AllAmerican honors ... Named Ralph Pyle Award winner and WCDO Male Athlete of the Year ... started collegiate career at Virginia Tech, where he finished third in the 1997Atlantic 10 steeplechase event ... transferred to the University of Delaware in January of 1998 ... earned 10 letters in Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field ... was Conference runner-up in the steeplechase (1998 & 2000), a 4th place finisher indoors in the 3000 (1998), and a 5th place finisher in the outdoor 5000 (2000). Is still in the top ten for the school's all-time performance list in the steeple (4) and the indoor 3000 (10)...Robb returned to the area in 2002 where he assisted Russ Conover with running the Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton track & field program for two seasons
He has been Head Track and Field Coach since Spring 2004. His teams have won league relay and overall titles several times and his elite athletes have had the honor of competing in the celebrated Penn Relays (where he competed in 2000) ... he started an Indoor track and field team in 2006. which resulted in 7 athletes qualifying for the state meet and two others the National Championships!
From 35 athletes in 2002, the BGA program had expanded to 105 participants by 2007...11 total state medals were won in 2006-07, after having only 5 in all previous years ... with even more success in 2008, Robb may be most proud that 17 track & field athletes have moved on to the collegiate level since 2004.... also coached varsity soccer at BGA
