Sidney School Alumni to Return
For Three Day Weekend July 15-17

SIDNEY – The SCS Alumni Association has announced plans for Alumni Weekend 2011. This year’s three-day celebration will be held July 15-17 with a full schedule of events planned.

One of the highlights is the Wall of Fame Induction that takes place at the all-class reunion luncheon on Sunday. This year’s inductees are Steve Wade, class of ’67; William Schmidt, class of ’61; John Uhorchak, class of ’71 and David Pysnik, retired faculty.

The fee for the luncheon is $15. Reservations may be made online at www.sidneyalumni. org using PayPal or sending your check payable to the SCSAA to P.O. Box 2186, Sidney, NY 13838. An early bird incentive is being offered again this year. Luncheon reservations received by June 10 will be entered in a $100 gift card drawing.

Just prior to the three-day weekend, on Thursday, July 14,there will be an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Alumni Center and Sidney Historical Assn. in the Sidney Civic Center, Liberty St. The open house will be held again on Friday, July 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Annual Golf Tournament will be held on Friday at the Sidney Golf and Country Club with fl ights at 7:30 a.m.and 12:30 p.m. A barbecue and awards ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m.

Saturday’s events will kick off with the annual pancake breakfast at the Sidney VFW from 8 to 11 a.m. This will be followed by the March of Classes at the Sidney High School alumni fi eld. Line-up will start at 11 a.m. and the march at 11:30 a.m. There will also be an open house at the Sidney High School from 2 to 4 p.m. The Saturday evening social will be held at the Sidney Elks Club beginning at 8 p.m. with the Bruce Beadle Band providing music from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

The Alumni Memorial Service will be held on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at the Ed Roelle Nature Trail. The all class reunion luncheon, with the fi remen’s famous barbecued chicken, and Wall of Fame induction will be held at the Sidney Firemen’s facility on lower River St. There will be a social hour at 11 a.m., followed by the luncheon at 11:45 a.m.
