A Personal View of Sidney
Alumni Veterans Memorial
By Shane Eaton Armstrong

For generations, Sidney graduates have been serving in our military forces. In honor of all the Sidney Warriors who have served their country, the Sidney Veterans Memorial Park Association has dedicated space for the Sidney Alumni Veterans Memorial. The memorial will be located prominently at the entrance of the park at the corner of Route 8 and River St. in Sidney and will be a component of a larger Veterans Memorial Park already being constructed.

The Sidney Alumni Veterans Memorial Wall project is expected to cost $20,000. The board of directors of the Sidney Central School Alumni Association (SCSAA) has made a $10,000 matching challenge grant to the Sidney Veterans Memorial Park Association, matching each donation they receive for the creation of the Wall dollar for dollar. Your contribution will help honor the Sidney Alumni who have served our nation with integrity for the freedoms we enjoy, love and defend so dearly.

As a 1998 graduate of Sidney Central Schools and a Veteran of the US Army, serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom, I am grateful that the idea of a memorial is now coming to fruition. We need your support.

Please make checks payable to: SCSAA or Sidney Central School Alumni Association Mail your check to: SCSAA, P.O. Box 2186, Sidney, NY 13838 with a memo: SAVM (Sidney Alumni Veterans Memorial).

Thank you for your support! Follow our progress on the Sidney Alumni Web Page: or Facebook Page: SCS Alumni Veterans Memorial. For questions regarding the Sidney Alumni Veterans Memorial, contact: Dane Woytek
